Hello
My name is Melanie! As a former surrogate (traditional), I am dedicated to empowering surrogates to thrive at every step of their journey. With firsthand experience, I understand the emotional and physical challenges that surrogates face, and my mission at Empower Surrogacy Coaching is to provide compassionate, personalized support in a safe space.
I aim to help surrogates with their emotional well-being, foster healthy relationships with intended parents, and grow personally and emotionally through this life-changing experience. My goal is to guide surrogates toward a fulfilling and empowered journey, offering the understanding and care only a fellow surrogate can provide.
After my deeply rewarding experience as a surrogate, I realized the immense need for compassionate, knowledgeable support throughout this unique journey. Becoming a coach felt like a natural extension of my passion for helping others thrive through surrogacy. I understand the challenges, emotions, and transformative nature of this path because I’ve walked it myself. I have earned my coaching certification, equipping me with the tools and expertise to guide others with empathy, resilience, and respect.
My Story
In June 2018, I had the unique experience of giving birth to my brother Jay and his husband Stephen’s baby, my nephew Briar. The journey began in December 2012 when Jay, newly single and visiting for the holidays, casually asked me if I’d ever consider donating my eggs so he could one day have a family. It was a surprising request, and while I didn’t have an answer right away, it planted a seed in my mind.
Years later Jay and Stephen met. Their relationship grew serious and they got married. I started thinking about their future and that little planted seed started to grow. By 2016, I realized that simply donating eggs didn’t feel right—I wanted to offer more. After much thought, conversation, and support from my family, I asked Jay and Stephen if they would like me to be their surrogate.
Moving to North Carolina and carrying my nephew was a life-changing experience for all of us. The journey brought challenges but also created a bond that remains strong today. I’m grateful to still have a close relationship with my nephew, as well as Jay and Stephen, and I’m proud of the role I played in building their family.
I always tell Briar - he was meant to be!
